The Willow Hills Pickleball Club provides fellowship and exercise for members of the church and our local community in Prescott… as well as the nation. We are affiliated with the USA Pickleball Association. The two area ambassadors for the USAPA are leaders of the club.
The game is somewhat like tennis but played on a court one-third the size of a tennis court. The ball looks like a whiffle ball and is hit with a paddle not a racket.
The rules of the game are such that it is more a game of finesse and strategy than power. For example, the ball must be served underhand and must bounce on both sides before it can be volleyed.
The game is very popular with seniors but is easily played and enjoyed by younger people. You can see the game in action at http://www.usapa.org/.
Pickleball can be learned in less than 15 minutes and can be played from ages 9 to 90. Free lessons, paddles, and balls are provided. Pickleball at Willow Hills is played indoors and good tennis shoes are all that is needed.
Where ever you here the ping of the ball and laughter, you can be assured it is pickleball.
Pickleball is so named after the inventor's dog who loved chasing the ball. You got it? The dogs name was ….pickles.
